Featured Generator: 2006 500kW Cummins DFEK DIESEL GENERATOR
Part of the Cummins Power Systems division which has been providing commercial and industrial size generators since acquiring Onanin 1992, this genset features the 9th generation of the famed QSX15 engine. Our DFEK comes equipped with the optional Sound Attenuated Enclosure and diesel fuel base tank.
The Generator
This low hour (835) Cummins DFEK Generator includes the PowerCommand 2100 control set with the optional bar graph.The standard PowerCommand® digital electronic control is an integrated system that combines engine and alternator controls for high reliability and optimum GenSet performance. The control panel features overcurrent and short circuit shut down, overcurrent warning, single & 3-phase fault regulation, over and under voltage shutdown, over and under frequency shutdown, and overload warning with alarm.
The generator itself is 3 phase, 60Hz, and is rated for 751.8 amps at 277/480 volts.
The Engine
Part of the acclaimed Quantum Series, the 6 cylinders, 670 horsepower Cummins QSX15 G9 diesel engine is turbocharged cast iron with replaceable wet cylinder liners. Engine instrumentation includes over-speed shutdown, low oil pressure warning and shutdown, high coolant temperature warning and shutdown, high oil temperature warning, low coolant level warning or shutdown, low coolant temperature warning, high and low battery voltage, fail to start (overcrank) shutdown and sensor failure indicators.
The Brand
Founded in 1919 in Columbus, Indiana by a small engine mechanic, Cummins Engines started with furthering the development of the diesel engine, finding initial commercial success in 1933. Spurred on by the road building boom that occurred in Post WWII America, Cummins quickly become the industry leader with its famous N series engines powering more than half of the heavy equipment being used. With the acquisition of American generator company Onan in 1992, Cummins Inc. became the world’s largest designer and manufacturer of diesel engines ranging from 55- to 2,700-horsepower.
